Damn It!

So, my schedule for fall semester was looking fairly good.
A couple bio classes, and a couple econ classes to help me almost finish my major.

Then I get an e-mail from the Econ department saying that one of the classes I'd signed up for (Econ elective and it filled the stupid diversity requirement) had been moved from Monday & Wednesday morning/afternoon to Thursday night. Now, I can't take night classes (4:35 to 7:35 or so) because UTA is stupid and doesn't serve Sandy (at least not where I live) that late (bastards).

So now I can't take that class. Leaving me with the need of 3 Econ classes in the spring (because all the ones I want to take in the fall are late class or overlap with other classes). And that damned diversity requirement, unless I find some other class (they all look so stupid and pointless though).

And the econ department requires 1 class in the "history/thought" sections (it'd be 2, but I took the horribly planned out by the department half-semester econometrics class this semester)... and all the ones that seem even partially interesting are given late night slot. What? The? FUCK!?!?

I mean seriously... it's the most annoying thing ever. There are like no classes I want to take. Plus the entire department has very few math-based classes (just the required "Math for economists" and stats and econometrics). I so hate it.

Yes, I'm frustrated. Supposedly, holding anger in is bad... and I've got so much anger built up in me from over the past how-many ever years (I've always been one to hold it in)... that I can't hold much more in. That said, I'm still pretty sure I'd feel the same way about the department even if I hadn't been building up anger since whenever.

End rant.
You may now continue with your lives.

March Madness Thoughts

The politics of sports (March Madness, BCS, NBA, NFL, MLB, whatever) are just annoying.

March Madness & the pathetic love for 'power conferences'. (What they don't seem to get is that 1- small conferences schools can't just get up and go join a power conferences, and 2- power conference schools aren't always willing to play smaller schools, because it's a no-win for them.) That said, if you don't have 20 wins, there is no way you should even be considered for an at-large bid. Period. (In other words, screw Arizona.) SDSU, Creighton, St. Mary's... they all deserved bids over 'Zona & Wisconsin & the likes.

The BCS and their big-6 love. See above for the problems in going by schedule/conference. Utah a couple years back, Boise State after that, Utah again this season... they went undefeated, they deserve a shot at the NC. Especially, as was the case this year, when there is no other team that is undefeated.

Quite simply, it obviously just about the money, and nothing at all about letting the players play and the better team win. The NBA is a great example of this... 'star players' (as decided by the league) get preferential treatment (they get more calls, they get away with more stuff). The game has become totally about offense... rules have been instilled to make it near impossible to play defense. Oh, and the double-dribbles/up-and-downs that aren't (under the guise of being a "pro-hop"), and traveling that isn't (if you're LeBron or Wade or the rapist)... and the NBA seems to be encouraging the move away from a "team" game to that of an "individual" game. Oh, and the flopping.

The NFL is there too... all the recent rule changes have been made to make sure the quarterbacks guys in skirts don't get hit. Plus, rules have been made to make the defense totally unable to play the game. And the fact that teams (cough*Patriots*cough) can get away with cheating. And the "No Fun League" rules that have ruined the fun that came in watching. And the horrible, horrible TV contracts that prevent them from switching games... even in blowouts.

And the MLB... seriously... no salary cap? I understand that they want the Yankees to continue to grow because everyone hearts NY, but what about teams like Pittsburgh & Kansas City that don't even have a chance?

Seriously... this is pissing me off.
They might be getting more money... but at what expense? Is it really worth it?
Might be time to find a new interest/hobby.

Stupid UTA

'UTA reaching out to bicycle community.'

Bastards. When will they start reaching out to the people that live... oh, any where but FREAKING DOWNTOWN!

There used to be 4 bus routes that ran past my house at some point of the day. Since they "improved" (total BS), it's been cut to 1. And that one only runs to the U 5 times in the morning (between 6 & 7:30) and runs back to Sandy 5 times in the evening (from 4 to 5:30). So if I need to go south of my house, UTA's response is
Fu** off!

And if I need to get to the U anytime after 8:30 AM, UTA's response is
Fu** off!

It only seems designed for those that live within a 5 block radius of the U... when your bus runs every 15 to 30 minutes.
Hell, the next closest bus to my house only runs every hour on Saturdays (the one on Highland runs every 30 minutes), and doesn't even run on Sunday (the one on Highland does). Oh, and if I'm staying at the U late on any weekday, I can't even take this bus home... because it stops running after 6:30. WHAT THE FUCK?

Screw UTA's "improvement"... the only good thing they did was start running the express buses more. But if I had known it would come at the expense of every other bus that comes here (and at the expense of getting a later bus to come up here), I'd have said no thanks.

Not that UTA would've cared... greedy bastards generally don't care what others think.

"Public" transportation my ass.
UTA sucks... plain and simple.

I'd say sorry about the profanity (I'm trying to stop), but in this case... I'm not really sorry.

13-0!!!

Hell yeah!!!

Utes 31, Tide 17

Congrats to Brian Johnson & the crew. The MOP, in my eyes, was easily the defense. 8 sacks, a couple of huge ints, a fumble recovery and not allowing any long drives by the Tide (TDs on a punt return and a short field after a fumble).

To the rest of the world... TAKE THAT!!!!

GO UTES!!!!!!!!!!
