So, for fun, I did a fantasy draft in Madden 2008. I was the Panthers, obviously (the only times I'm not is if I'm feeling angry and decide to be another team so that I can fire the coach after 1 year).
Anyhow, despite the stupidity of the 'fantasy draft' feature (where only QBs & HBs go in the 1st round, and it keeps going like that for a while), I mixed things up (as I usually do). Normally I go LB & CB early, to build the defense. This time I went elsewhere, taking current Panthers Julius Peppers & Steve Smith in the first 2 rounds. I also added current Panthers DeAngelo Williams, Jon Beason & Thomas Davis later in the draft, and traded for ex-Ute Eric Weddle after the draft. Oh, and drafted ex-Ute Quinton Ganther late, because hey... the Utes rock.
Anyhow, I ended up with an alright D, anchored by Peppers, with a Beason-Lofa Tatupu-Davis LB trio, and Nnamdi Asomugha leading the secondary (along with OJ Atogwe, with Weddle his back-up).
The offense is run first (at least the offensive line is). D-Will is the lead back, with Musa Smith backing him up. After trading away Kellen Clemens (to get Weddle) & signing Trent Edwards, my QB trio is Edwards, Brad Johnson & DJ Shockley. Not impressive, but eh... got the draft next year. The pass catchers are Smith, Calvin Johnson, Brian Finneran, Chansi Stuckey (WRs) and Owen Daniels & ex-Ute John Madsen (TEs).
Yeah... totally irrelevant to life & everything. But still. Now you know.
Stick to baseball, 1/25/25.
