Book Of The Week, Part I

Just a way for me to mention books I love that you should read

Well, with baseball's opening week now over (or getting there), it makes sense to start with the best baseball book I've read... Moneyball by Michael Lewis.

Moneyball is a book that takes place over the span of 1 season, as Michael Lewis follows around the A's GM (Billy Beane) and some of the people working with him (a la Paul DePodesta). As someone that loves the GM side of things (it'd be a dream job), it was a great read. Insight into the way they execute the draft, or the way they manage the trading deadline, etc... awesomeness!

I've always been a fan of things like that... I mean, even when playing video games, I much prefer drafting/trading/signing FA's to actually playing the games. And Michael Lewis showed some great insight with his book. While it might be a bit outdated with everyone moving towards the new stats and all, it's still nice to read (I've read it many times over).

It might not be as fun if you're not a baseball fan, but eh... I'll just assume you are.
