Madden 2008, Fantasy Draft... Part II

Yeah... don't know what happened with my last fantasy draft. So I had to do it again. This time, I was the Jets. Simply because I won't mind firing their coach at the end of the season if need be (and if I get that far... I hadn't touched Madden since January 31st). (Oh, and unrelated to that... I hope to get Madden 2010 when it releases.)

Like normal, I went defense first. I ended up with the best CB in the game (Champ Bailey) and then built up the D-Line with Luis Castillo, Ma'ake Kemoeatu & Haloti Ngata. The LBs are Boss Bailey, Kirk Morrison, Robert Thomas & Jon Beason (the Jets run a 3-4), with Quincy Black, Chris Gocong & Brandon Siler being the back-ups. With Bailey in the secondary are Mike McKenzie, Adrian Wilson & Reggie Nelson. Despite not having Eric Weddle (or, for that matter, any ex-Ute), I'm happy with the D. Even though my OLBs don't really fit well into the 3-4.

Offensively, the O-Line is constituted of a young left-side (D'Brickashaw, Grubbs, Kalil) and an older right-side (Welbourn, Salaam). Back-ups there include Robert Gallery, Deuce Lutui and Eric Winston. I waited till quite late to address the offensive "skill positions," but still ended up with a WR set of Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker & Dwayne Bowe, a RB combo of DeAngelo Williams & Brandon Jacobs (Tony Hunt & Garrett Wolfe behind them) and pass catchers at FB (Ben Utecht) and TE (Bo Scaife, Zach Miller).

I was actually planning on building an offense that was a "run to set up the pass" type thing, but then Kurt Warner fell to me. Now I have Warner throwing to some solid, young WRs... and an extra back (Jacobs) that I can probably trade for a younger CB or another MLB or something.

Anyhow, the first pre-season game... I crushed a Falcons team led by Steve McNair, Derrick Mason & Willie Parker. Bailey returned a interception 96 yards for a TD, and Garrett Wolfe had 100+ yards and 2 TDs in the 4th quarter (including a 76 yard TD run). The defense had 3 sacks (2 by guys that'll be starters in the regular season) and held the Falcons to 3 points until late in the 4th quarter (when Maddens "no blowout" crap came into effect).

You probably don't care, but eh. Here it is for y'all to see.
