Hilarious!
A comedy that takes a look at a couple of guys who are trying "to hit a century" (cricket term) but keeping getting out at 99 (as is mentioned in the movie... people celebrate your 100th run, but no one remembers #99).
There's the duo of Kunal Khemu & Cyrus Broacha, a couple of small-time technical thiefs, who, on the run from the cops, crash and destroy a car owned (through theft from a famous star, we're told) by a don (Mahesh Manjrekar). And so he wants a ton of money from them, and since they don't have it, they have to work for him. (He loans out huge amounts of money, and when people can't repay, his guys go take everything from them).
There's Boman Irani, a gambler, has taken a huge loan from said don to bet on a cricket match... and lost it all. He believes in getting signs from 'above'... though they let him down that time. So he's on the run from said don, and another guy who sent him to the don in the first place (Amit Mistry). And, as luck would have it, don sends Kunal & Cyrus to get the money from Boman Irani. He doesn't have it, and promises that he'll have it by Friday, when he's going to bet on another cricket match.
Things obviously go wrong, and all of a sudden, all 3 guys (Boman, Kunal, Cyrus) are in need of cash... not only to pay the don back (and in Boman's case, Amit Mistry as well)... but also to bet on the game.
Throw in Soha Ali Khan, as Kunal's love interest. And Simone Singh, as Boman's disappointed wife. And Vinod Khanna, as JC... someone who fixes cricket matches. And you've got yourself a comedy that isn't your average comedy.
The songs aren't all that amazing, but they're still good. The acting carries the movie, though the story is impressive too.
Highly recommended!
