Quick Thoughts

I know it's stupid, but I've been fairly depressed today due to the death of Nick Adenhart. Nick was a top prospect for the LA Angels (of Anaheim), who I'd seen pitch in person (or on TV when the Bees were on) a couple of times.

I had never met him.
So why the depression? And why more than any other baseball player death?
I have no idea.

Maybe it's because he was 22, which is way too young an age to die.
Maybe it's because I'd seen him pitch in person, had seen him dominate in the minors.
Maybe it's because he wasn't killed by his own mistakes, but because someone (with a suspended license and DUI history, no less) got drunk, ran a red light, and kill Nick & 2 others. And then tried to flee from the scene.

Sometimes... you can't help but wonder why some laws are the way that they are... why they aren't made tougher to prevent things like this from happening so often.

I just heard about this about an hour ago actually and it's so sad... but also very angering to me.

Just curious... angering for the same reason(s)? Or for some other reason(s)?

It angers me that people think they can get away with driving under the influence and nothing will happen, usually because nothing bad has happened in the past. But then when something DOES happen, it's so tragic. So yeah... I have my beef with people driving under any influence, even my own friends. It's just one of those things I could go off forever on, ya know?

Agreed. I feel the same way. It angers me to no end... and in this case, the guy was drunk, and driving with a suspended license (due to DUI).

Ugh!
