So, for fun, I tried out the "fantasy challenge" portion of Madden 2008 today at a friends house. I ended up going with the "Hall of Fame" draft thing, because it sounded like fun (and because when I tried the other option, I maxed out the given points in 4 rounds... with 11 more to go).
In the end, I ended up with a team anchored by Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Steve Smith & Larry Fitzgerald on offense, and Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Reggie White, Nnamdi Asomugha & Dunta Robinson on D.
The first game (I only played half of the game before I had to leave), I faced the Titans... a team led by the really dumb QB of Vince Young. I mean, he would run into pressure if he felt some pressure, throw the ball to the defense (overshooting the wide-outs by a good 5 to 10 yards), try to run before the linemen could get their blocks, etc.
Ed Reed had a pick 6.
Walter Payton threw a TD pass to Steve Smith on a HB pass.
One play after a failed WR pass from Fitzgerald to Smith (I led Smith too far), Smith took an end around (same type of play set-up) for 50 yards and a TD.
Joe Montana tossed a TD pass to Smith.
Payton ran one in from a bit out.
Talk about a deadly team. And the pressure from the d-line (and occasionally a blitzing LB or S) totally demolished the Titans.
And totally unrelated... I love that Eagles playbook!
