So, I recently decided to give Madden 2008's 'create-a-playbook' feature a chance. And while it was fun, there are some complaints that I really hope EA Sports will address soon (doubtful, because EA Sports ruins everything).
- It is impossible to put in of some common moves, such as play-action passes and the likes.
- It is impossible to install semi-common trick plays like a WR reverse or a HB/WR pass or what not. Also, it is impossible to do things like a double-reverse and what-not.
- It is impossible to use things formations such as the Wildcat (QB split out wide) and what-not.
- It is impossible to use the created playbooks in franchise mode.
I mean... what's the point of doing it if you can't use it in the 'franchise mode'??? I created plays in the Pistol Formation & the Wishbone formation. The problem with the Wishbone is that it depends on pitches/options... not totally ideal for the NFL, but still. I'd like to be able to have a RB swing around and take a pitch, or what-not. Not just hand-offs to the FB.
And it's not really fun if you sit and build a playbook... and then can't use it unless you're doing the 'play now' option. What is the point of creating a playbook if you can't use it?
Stupid EA Sports. First you get rid of MVP Baseball, which was awesome... and now you are destroying Madden. Great.
Like the whole "role" thing... it now takes like years for the off-season to start because all the roles have to be "processed". I guess I'd prefer a game something like Head Coach, but instead of HC, the player gets to be the GM. You don't have to play the game... or coach them (which takes way too long in HC'09), but you get to handle all the moves during & after the season.
If only...
